The tombs date from the Ptolemaic period (332 B.C to 30 B.C. which began when Alexander the Great entered Egypt), & lie just off the road heading north out of Pafos towards Coral Bay. No royalty was actually buried here, but with about 100 tombs found on the headland the site's scale is impressive. Behind the facade of Doric columns, the tombs are carved out of rock, & those arranged around a subterranian courtyard are particularly grand.
