TG11 REUNION 14-16 MARCH 2008

PURPOSE OF EVENT

Over the mists of time people have drifted apart either on
Postings within the service or on Demob. This is just a chance to re-new old friendships within the trade. This is an unofficial event.

ELIGIBILITY

Any serving or retired TG11 (Teleg, TPO, Telephonist, TCC, TCO) from the RAF or RauxAF.

GUESTS

Each person may bring one non TG11 guest.

LOCATION - BLACKPOOL

The Dunes Conference Complex (which is part of the Pontins Holiday Centre Blackpool). We will be sharing the facilities with Thompson Travel, who are running a course for their Reps over the weekend. On the Saturday night we will have our own exclusive venue. Please follow hyperlink to have a look at the Holiday Centre facilities. I have had to book the reunion as a “Conference” rather than an “Event” to avoid a hefty deposit which is required by trades events.

NUMBERS

500 minimum for the event to take place. The centre will then keep taking bookings, until it is full, the maximum is around the 1000 mark. This is a strictly first come first serve basis. Early booking is well advised.

COST - £105 Per person

This includes :-
Fri/Sat Night, Accommodation
Fri Evening Meal
Sat/Sun Breakfast
Sat Night Buffet

Note: There are snack bars etc round the site for any other meals. The £105 covers half board.

DRESS/ DEPORTMENT

Smart but casual for the whole weekend. No loutish behaviour please

The Pontins Holiday Centre is 4 miles from Blackpool town centre.
If you are arriving by train/coach there are abundant Taxi/Bus/Tram services
to the Pontins Complex from all Railway Stations and Coach Stations.

AIR

Blackpool Airport sits behind the Pontins Holiday Centre.

CAR

Address as above, close to M6/M55/M65 depending on direction of travel.
Free secure car parking on site.

ACCOMMODATION

Mostly ground floor Chalets. Colour TV with Satellite channels, Free electricity and heating, towels, bed lining, ensuite bathroom with bath or shower. If you have any special disabled needs please mention it at time of booking.

MEAL TIMINGS

As per Information Pack on arrival from reception. Please mention any special dietary needs at the time of booking.

WHAT THEN

Please e-mail me at TG11REUNION@AOL.COM and tell me you have booked and whether you are bringing a non trade group guest.

I would also like to know your service number, date of joining/leaving maybe a few overseas postings etc. So I can build up a mini picture of who is attending.

At the moment I am sending everyone e-mails individually, if you have no objections to being part of a general message list, please indicate that in your e-mail. It will save me quite a bit of time. Lets come to a general understanding that this list will not be used to send junk/humorous e-mails to.

If you know of any member who does not have e-mail can please proxy for them initially or give them my telephone number so I can liaise directly.

SECURITY

Please do not post this document on websites etc where everyone gets the full picture of what’s going. You are welcome to pass the document in full via e-mail attachment or by mail, to other TG11 members. If you are in a position on a station, please give out the dates and e-mail address in orders magazine etc. I am sure you all know the score on this one.

THE FUTURE

There will be time set aside during the reunion to canvas opinion on whether its worth holding the event again or even making a formal TG11 Association. However this is in the future. For the time being lets get this event underway and see what happens. Word of mouth is by far the best means of Comms in my opinion, so dig up your old Xmas card lists and pass this on. I know a lot of people may find the venue to far a distant to travel or you cannot attend on this occasion. Please let me know if you want to be part of the general message list for anything that might happen in the future.
