TFF Lightning Mk1 XM135

TFF Lightning Mk1 XM145
TFF operated 3 Mk1 Lightnings as target a/c - XM135 XM139 & XM145. In 1969 XM139 was returned to Warton to have the wing tanks relined. During it's absence XM174 was borrowed form Binbrook but within about 10 days it crashed into Ballmullo Quarry due to engine failure. The pilot Fl/Lt Rawcliffe ejected safely & was picked up by a 202 Sqdn Whirlwind
